Student interests are represented by different democratic bodies at the University of Rostock. Important bodies are, among others, the student representatives or the student council (StuRa). The student council computer science represent the interest of the students from computer science study courses towards institute and faculty. The student council represents the students in total towards the university and appoints persons who engage in the General Students’ Committee (AStA). Students can stand for these and other bodies. Elections for certain bodies are held at fixed dates. The student representatives computer science elections often take place at the end of the year, implemented as ballot box vote. Candidates for boards like the student council or the Academic Senate are usually elected in summer via postal vote.
