Elective field

The elective field "Non-technical subject" with a total of 12 credit points primarily serves to acquire or improve the language skills of the students in German and English, and secondarly to acquire soft skills. The modules are intended to improve language, non-technical and social skills as well as the students' self-competence.

Therefore, after a placement test at the Language Center of the University of Rostock, students must take German courses with a total of 12 credit points. Students who have demonstrably not been given a place for a German course at the Language Center can instead take suitable English courses at the language center or other modules from the non-technical elective area. Students who can already demonstrate German language proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference may take modules instead from the non-technical module offer of the faculty or the university’s complete module offer.
