Business Informatics B.Sc. - Term 4 to 7

The technical in-depth specialization starts in term 4, the professional studies. The decision between two fields of study can be made here. Part of the professional studies are the focus studies where compulsory optional modules with a total scope of 30 credit points must be studied. 6 credit points each must be acquired in term 4 and 5, 18 credit points in term 6 in the focus studies.
Additionally, the module "Rechnergestütztes wissenschaftliches Arbeiten" is compulsory in term 4.

For the focus studies, 3 catalogues are offered.
The catalogue Focus 1 allows acquiring deepened knowledge in special fields of Computer Science, the catalogue Focus 2 allows acquiring deepened knowledge in special fields of business.
The catalogue Focus 3 forces the in-depth technical foreign language competence and practical experience with international cooperation.

Field of study "Information systems"

The study field "information systems" allows acquiring deepened knowledge from the technical application areas of business informatics and related fields of work. Modules with 6 credit points minimum each must be acquired in this study discipline in the focus study course from the catalogues Focus 1 (field computer science) and Focus 2 (field business). The other modules of the focus studies are free from all focus catalogues.

Field of study "Business Informatics"

In addition to technical competences, in-depth technical foreign language competence and practical experience with international cooperation are taught in the study field “Business Informatics”. For this study field, two successive language modules of technical communication C1.1 and C1.2 from catalogue Focus 3 must be obligatorily attended. If an aptitude for the language module on level C1.2 can be proven during a placement test at the university's language center, language module C1.1 can be replaced by another module of the same scope upon request. This substitute module can be from one of the three focus catalogues or be to the language module C1.1 of another language.

The other modules of the focus studies are free from all focus catalogues. As far as possible, courses offered in English are to be attended. Homework, seminar papers and the bachelor thesis are to be written in English. The practical training must be completed abroad.

All other modules of term 4 to 7 outside the compulsory optional field are compulsory modules.

A 12-weeks professional training must be implemented in term 7, and after term 4 earliest, according to the study plan. The practical training is not graded but assessed with "passed" or "not passed". Thus, it is not included into the final mark. The module bachelor thesis comprising of final thesis and colloquium is also part of term 7.
