Elective Soft Skills – Example Mentoring Computer Science

Soft Skills like presenting securely, coordinating discussions, organizing and many more are important job requirements for computer scientists. These skills are in the focus of this module and are also practically applied here.

The practical task here is to support first term students regarding all questions related to the start of studies and to act as mentor for them. Own experiences from the first months of studying can be shared here. And, besides that, one can learn a lot: organizing, structuring, managing, taking over responsibility, searching for and finding solutions, presenting, discussing and coordinating discussions, planning time, preparing well for examinations – everything to be considered as soft skills. And this is even fun indeed.

The Soft Skill module "Mentoring Computer Science" is offered in winter term and can be attended from term 3 on.
